Hi all!

This morning, we arrived in Kunming after a couple of days spent in Dali (both located in the Yunnan province of China). But we’re only here for a day because we managed to get tickets in the sleeper train tonight to get to Guilin (an 18-hour ride after last night’s 10-hour hard-sleeper ride!)

Since we’re taking the sleeper train two days in a row, we treated ourselves to an upgrade: tonight we’ll both have a luxury soft-sleeper bottom berth!

Nous sommes alles faire une randonnee de 2 jours le long des gorges du tigre bondissant (la legende veut qu’on tigre ait saute par dessus les gorges)… on n’a pas saute mais on a pas mal marche : voici le compte rendu!

We’ve just come back from a couple days of hiking Tiger Leaping Gorge, a couple hours north of Lijiang. According to legend, a tiger jumped accors the gorge here to escape something. Not sure how many tigers are here, but it was a beautiful walk.

Last Wednesday we left spicy Sichuan and the comfort of Sim’s Cozy (very cozy) Hostel in Chengdu for Yunnan province. The original plan was to bus/train our way there, but after our exhausingly long bus rides around Tibet we opted for the 20 hours shorter and only a few euros more expensive flight to Lijiang.

Nous avons fait une randonnee de 3 jours jusqu’au sommet de la montagne Emei (ou “Emei Shan”), situee au sud de Chengdu.

L’integralite de l’ascension se fait grace a un escalier de plusieurs dizaines de milliers de marches (on a souvent eu une pensee emue pour les ouvriers qui l’ont construit!), et du coup c’est beaucoup plus escarpe que s’il y avait un simple sentier! Les molets ont travaille dur ;-)

Mais le spectacle en valait la peine!
